Sitayana is Jimmy Ong’s provocative re-imagining of the Ramayana from a woman’s perspective. This ancient Indian epic continues to play a vibrant role in the cultures of Southeast Asia.
Ong is among Singapore’s preeminent contemporary artists and has been noted for his large scale, figurative charcoal works on paper since his first solo exhibitions in the 1980s. His art explores complex themes of ancestry, sexuality and identity.
