Cars to be featured in 2009

Comeback queen: VW Scirocco

The return of the "IT" coupe is set to be a winner for both the heart and the head. 2.0 turbocharged engine with adaptive chassis control assures class leading driving abilities. Is Audi's TT coupe in danger?

Bullet train: Audi RS6

Twin-turbocharged V10 engine chruning out 580bhp and 650Nm of torque makes the Audi RS6 easily the fastest station wagon ever. Comes at a eye-watering S$475,000 price-tag. Tinkerbell's new ambulance?

Boulevard star : Mercedes Benz SL 280

Controversial facelift gives the SL another few years of shelf life . Would the much aggressive front treatment ruin the SL's much coverted "Grace Kelly" heritage?

Alfa Romeo Mito

The lines of the Mito is clearly being inspired by Alfa Romeo 8C. Targeted right at Mini, the Mito is bang on the dollar for style. Would it be as good to drive as the Mini?

This Week's Auto Feature

Picking up the pieces of 2008
Since the 1 st February, Fridae Auto Club has been bringing our Fridae members a weekly article on the latest and hottest cars out there. 2008 is not exactly the best year for most of the auto industry as some of the world’s largest car companies are fighting for survival. This week, we take a look at the winners and losers for 2008.

Our picks for 2008

Style: Alfa Romeo Spider
Of the 52 cars collected for 2008, the Alfa Romeo Spider has been the most admired. It might not be the best drive, but it's charming looks is hard to resist.

Comfort: Mercedes Benz R-280L
Desperate Housewives's Bob and Lee's "family" car is certainly by far the best riding car we have driven in 2008. Massive interior room with sumptuous seats.

Drive: Audi TTS
It might only have 272bhp from a turbocharged 4 cyl engine, but with an endless pool of grip and a light but direct steering, the S$225,000 coupe is worth every penny.

Green: Mazda2
A simple approach towards green motoring: weight reduction. Mazda's under one tonne supermini has proven that green motoring does not need to be costly and dull to drive.

Most disappointing car of 2008

As much of a fan I am for Volkswagen cars, the Touareg R50 was sadly lacking in the excitment I was hoping for in the world's most powerful diesel passenger car. The high kerb weight and the obvious turbo lag did the performace SUV no favours. A 5.0 V10 turbocharged diesel engine packed in the Touareg may be capable of towing a boeing 747, it is clearly not capable of towing my expectations. Read more here
