PICK OF THE WEEK

The Blue Mansion
Directed by: Glen Goei
Opening: 22 October 2009

If there is one actor whose sex tape we wish would surface, it’d be Ashton Kutcher.

The gorgeous actor steams up the cinemas this week with his hot, hot turn as a gigolo in the sex comedy Spread. But he is not doing it alone. Anne Heche, who plays his older lover, also turns up the heat (plus the waterworks) as a sexy 40something lawyer who’s tough on the outside and jelly beneath the surface.

However, if you’re looking for something a little more high-brow than a sex comedy, check out Singapore film The Blue Mansion instead. It is a classy murder-mystery with a good script, good director (Glen Goei) and excellent cast (theatre actors the likes of Tan Kheng Hua, Lim Kay Siu and Huzir Sulaiman).

Two good movies not to be missed. Enjoy.

Meryl Streep is delightful as a cook with a passion for life, while Amy Adams is a total drag.

Darah, the first film from Eric Khoo’s new production company, is shockingly gory but not particularly original in its storytelling.
